Pioneer Park MTB Trail
Intermediate Trail

Description:
The trail near Pioneer Park is composed of two seperate singletrack loops each on either side of I-94. Both loops will provide riders/runners substantial climbing and technical challenge. For mountain bikers wanting to perfect their technical skills on switchbacks, this is an excellent trail. The trial offers wonderful vistas of the Missouri River, and is accordingly one of the most popular trails in Bismarck/Mandan. This trail is appropriate for intermediate riders, and can be ridden in either direction.

Helpful Tips
-
Keep on the lookout for gulleys, as the silt and fine sand making up the trail erodes easily under even moderate rainfall.
-
There are few blind corners due to dense vegetation on the north loop. Ride with caution in these areas.
-
There is a bridge crossing on the far west portion of the south loop with steep sections on the entry and exit of the bridge. Exercise caution immediately before the bridge (lean back on the saddle) and gear down for the climb out.
-
There are many other entry points into the singletrack trail on either side of the interstate.
-
Given the abundance of switchbacks, remember to start wide, cut through the apex and finish wide. Also, be sure to keep your eyes on where you want to go. You can enjoy the view of the river once you get to the top!
